Together is Better: Our Vision for Missions

We believe that all of us, including our children, are called to love the Lord our God with all of our heart, soul, mind and strength, and to love our neighbors as ourselves. We believe that the act of missions is lived out through these commandments.

At VCA, we believe that children learn by doing, and that the best way to teach a child to live out missions, is to do it, at every age. For this reason, all of our students are intentionally engaged in the act of missions from Kindergarten through the 8th grade in outreaches that show love to our neighbors both near and far.

We believe that the practice of missions develops a heart for the Lord and for others. Through missions, children learn to understand just how much God loves them, they see their own value in giving, they experience what it is like to give love tangibly, and they watch how that love changes lives.

It is our prayer that through each age and stage of our students' lives, they would know the inexpressible love of God and have the opportunity to experience the joy of giving it away.

Hebrews 13:16, "And do not forget to do good and to share with others,
for with such sacrifices God is pleased."

Philippians 2:3-4, "Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit.
Rather, in humility value others above yourselves,
 not looking to
your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others."

Matthew 22:37-40,  "'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’  This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second
is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’
All the Law and the Prophets
hang on these two commandments.”
